I think it’s disgraceful that cuts to such a valuable resource as the East Ren Music Service have even been considered by the council, this can’t be allowed to happen!

Backward thinking!

My daughter has attended the Saturday music school and she loved it. A fantastic resource that help children develop musically as well as in confidence and ability to apply skills across the curriculum.

Surely cuts to the East Ren music service will result in increased costs for families that use the service. If lower income families are priced out of their children being able to have the opertunities that the service provides then this is abhorrent. My career has been shaped by the early experiences I had in the instrumental service and by the fantastic teachers and staff (and affordably at that). Reconsider!

I don't think they realise how important music is to some people

It makes such a difference to some young people it gives them the opportunity to learn something new and interact with other people from lots of different backgrounds

As someone who came through East Renfrewshire's music service I couldn't feel more strongly about this! The opportunities given to me by the service were great and it would be a travesty if others weren't offered the same service.

Learning music is one of the most important things human should embrace. East Ren has produced so many great talents in music so far. Please keep that way!

Music is SO important in a child’s life. East Renfrewshire has , over the years , given young people opportunities to realise skills and talents that they didn’t know they had, many of whom have chosen music as a career. Don’t deny our young people this opportunity to flourish.

cuts to the music service will be absolutely devastating to the authority. i help run the saturday music centre and was myself a pupil for 10 years and can safely say that the music service has been one of the most incredible things i have participated in. do not cut what is a great opportunity for young people to express themselves and make friends for life.

SO much will be lost if this is cut back. Let the talent flourish!

As a school pupil in East Renfrewshire I went through years and years of the fantastic musical tuition that the council provided, starting in primary 6 at the Saturday music centre at Williamwood. I am now a 4th year undergraduate studying music performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and this would never have happened had it not been for the incredible oppurtunies provided by the music service. East Renfrewshire is renowned for producing young musicians of the highest calibre, and to throw this away would simply be ridiculous.

Having been involved with music all my life, my granddaughters are receiving wonderful instruction in violin, ‘cello and choral singing. This service MUST continue.

My very talented niece and nephew were able to benefit from music all the way through school in East Renfrewshire. It would be tragic to cut this service now. The local authority should be ashamed to be considering cuts to a service that could potentially nurture special talent. Shame on East Renfrewshire Council

Maybe Council should look at cutting their inefficiency and unnecessary expenditure and start listening to constituents

East Renfrewshire prides itself with the great successes and accomplishment of their orchestras at Williamwood as well at their primary schools. Cutting this service will starve these of talent. You can't have it both ways. To cut a music service like this but still wanting to have successful orchestras and individual achievements that you can show off as en exceptional standard of education in East Renfrewshire. You cut an outstanding service like that you frankly won't be anymore. Your education provision will just be ordinary.

These cuts would deprive children of a fantastic opportunity to learn a wonderful skill that they can enjoy and use throughout their life.

My son began trombone lessons in primary school - we would never have considered any instrument unless he had been offered the opportunity through school. East Renfrewshire music service has given him many opportunities to grow as a whole person and not just in his music skills.
