Save East Renfrewshire Music Service

Any music service is vitally important in the development of children's education. To take away these opportunities would be incredibly detrimental to future generations who will not have the ability to access this incredible service.

I attended choir at the Saturday music centre for many years and also feel it's unlikely I would have got involved in this if I had not already been encouraged and joined during primary school.

This is a very important part of a child's development the earlier they start playing an instrument the better.

Fantastic service, I benefitted from attending as a child and I worked as an instrumental instructor before cutbacks a few years ago- don’t let these amazing and talented staff loose their jobs!!

Don’t cut this valuable service.

Music is an invaluable resource that every child should have access too. It is a known fact that having access to learning a musical instrument helps improve various aspects of a child's education as well self confidence and social skills. It is also very expensive to fund on a private basis meaning the less wealthy children will no longer be entitled to learn to play their chosen instrument. Let's not deny our children this wonderful opportunity.

Musical experience and education has consistently been demonstrated to support other cognitive development in the brain. Language, maths as well as social and emotional skills are all boosted by participation in musical activities. Underfunding this valuable tool for supporting our children's development would be a step backwards in terms of East Renfrewshire's educational ambitions.

It is important to keep access to both instrumental tuition in Primary Schools and the Wed/ Sat music centres. Both have been invaluable to my daughter's musical development. All taught and staffed by wonderful, enthusiastic, supportive teachers who are so generous with their time and experience!

I have three very talented cousins who would all have been on a completely different career path if it wasn’t for this service. I vote to save it.

Music is a very strong n successful aspect of education in ER.Please DO NOT put this at risk.In Netherlee alone we have many very talented professional musicians.How did they learn their craft? Guess what? Their interest began in primary school !!!!

I believe that the east ten music service is vital for child development within east Renfrewshire and that cutting it would be tragic

Please save this fantastic service that provides so much for our kids, it really is amazing and would be devastating to lose

As an East ren resident, council tax payer & parent, please reverse this decision. All of my three children have played through williamwood and Saturday morning music. As a semi pro musician myself, I can confidently say - it is too late to start learning in secondary. And the outstanding standards of school orchestras and bands will suffer. Music is more than just music - it's fun, it's team building, for the kids who are not good at sports or academic subjects, it might be the one thing they excel at. You cannot teach an instrument in a huge class, it needs to be ideally 1-1 or at least not more than 3. Please re-think this - it's one of the standout things that makes East ren education so good.

Without East Renfrewshire music service, I would have not been able to achieve my Higher Music SQA Award, and would be without musical skill. These skills have certainly not only helped me in my adult life but allowed me to meet new friends and take part in various events during and after my school years. My school experience in East Renfreshire would have been completely different without these music services, specifically the Saturday Morning music service, and I do not want to think of children not having the great opportunities that were given to me.

Please keep the music classes I East Ren! It really matters for our youngsters!

This would be very sad indeed. Music has given my daughter far more confidence and ignited what I expect will be a life long passion. Children need more than just Physics and Chemistry. ERC itself gets great recognition from their pupils contributions ou with the region. It would be a shame to stifle this.

It's only fair that it gets offered to children, so that they can learn and grow through what learning an instrument has to offer.

Very sad to learn of this decision. East Renfrewshire's music programme has always been very impressive and inclusive. To stop instrumental tuition in primary schools could mean that a future musician won't discover their talent and many children will miss out on the joy of music.

That 's awful why are they considering taking music tuition away from primery school pupils.
