I played violin during my primary and secondary school days and was in regional orchestras. Was amazing and would hate to see this happen!!

Music should be paramount in the education system. So
much evidence points to the greater value it provides. Plus, the pride it provides the school & authority with cannot be overlooked. Keep the music service!

This would have a detrimental and negative impact to the young people and all the fantastic instrumental staff!

Music and the Arts are just a soft target for financial cuts. Music and the Arts are so important to our wellbeing. It's part of being a human. It's so important to everyone, not just those who excel in this area.

I was a pupil in an East Renfrewshire School and benefitted hugely from this Instrumental Tuition - I am now a Music Teacher, and have taught in East Renfrewshire and now in South Lanarkshire and it really saddens me to see the numbers dropping due to charges for lessons and cuts to services. The effect of music education and instrumental instruction on pupils - both musical and all round development of lifeskills - is huge and should be accessible to pupils from all backgrounds and financial situations. It is shocking that these services are being cut back yet again.

As a class music teacher who has previously worked for East Renfrewshire, I have seen how valuable the music service is to schools across the authority and how important it is to provide music education from primary right through to secondary in all authorities. Music will become an elitist subject if authorities continue to make these cuts and that is not the way to go. Music provides young people with a well rounded education which covers a variety of subject areas and can help them in all aspects of life.

This service is vital to give children and young people the opportunity to develop and to gain new opportunities . I have seen first hand the difference music can make in a young persons life .
