Save Dunmanus Bay

Aquaculture has been proved to be polluting here on Canada's west coast. Why would it be different in Ireland?

It would be a travesty to allow more mussel farms to destroy this unique and wonderful location and its marine environment. I and my family have been coming to Kilcomane for more than 20 years every summer to enjoy its peace and beauty - it is a wonderful location to enjoy kayaking, fishing and being out on the water in such a special place. It is beloved by us and by our children and grandchildren. One only has to see the mussel farms located in front of Blairs Cove to realise what a blight they are . I fully support all the objections to the granting of a licence for mussel farms in front of Kilcomane Pier

Dunmamus Bay is a beautiful bay and is managed for the benefit of all who live in and visit to enjoy the unspoilt beauty. With little to no pollution it is a sanctuary for wildlife both in and out of the water. There is little in the way of employment on the peninsula other than tourism and tarnishing the natural beauty will endanger this.

I, my family & many of our visitors, both Irish & foreign, have been coming to Kilcomane for 20 years. It would be a travesty if this visual & marine-polluting intensive mussel farm project were to be allowed to go ahead in this pristine bay, now surrounded by the wonderful Wild Atlantic Way. The descriptions of the environmental damage caused at Gouladoo & the eyesore off Blair's Cove gives ample support to the cause of not allowing T05/590 to go ahead & deface a wonderful part of our tourist infrastructure that is Dunmanus Bay, whether east or west of Carbery Island. The beauty of Dunmanus Bay still takes my breath away, it must not be harmed under the title of "development and jobs" - it has developed very nicely for millennia under the careful watch of Mother Nature and the jobs which will be created, well how many, where and when!

This must not happen.

I can’t believe that planners and developers are so shortsighted !

This will have a negative impact on the local environment. It was rightly refused previously and should be again.

Leave this bay alone--it does not need "development".

Real fish and marine life are more important than supermarket shelves if farmed muscles

I object to the new planning applications ref T05/590A, for aquaculture and foreshore licenses for an intensive mussel farm in Dunmanus Bay. Please do deny the actual application
