Save Duffy Field

This is a crucial park that needs to be preserved for everyone to enjoy, Especially in the neighborhood !! If Doherty needs a practice field then they should use what is already available, like Foley Stadium which is closeby and where there is already plenty of parking. Especially since it is for only 2 years as I understand. Don't destroy and ruin a lovely neighborhood and green space for all just to benefit the few! The thought of astroturf, lots of lights and locked gates is absolutely appalling and totally unnecessary! Again use what is already available! Save Duffy Field.

Please save our neighborhood park

Public spaces and parks are sacred spaces in this country and need to be preserved. The proposed changes made public apparently call for nearly exclusive high school facilities and dedicated area use. Changing a public park in this way is inappropriate and not the best improvements for a shared neighborhood public space in MA.

Absolutely keep Duffy green and natural. An artificially lit, plasticized "field" is a human repellent. How many picnics have you ever had in a parking lot, or how many leisurely strolls have you ever taken across an artificial turf field? Keep it real!

Duffy Field is a public park enjoyed by many neighbors and used by several nearby schools that lack outdoor space. The idea that the city wants to tear out more woods, disrupt wetlands, put in a parking lot, and use fake turf all so a few high schoolers can PRACTICE for a few months a year is appalling. And don’t underestimate the traffic issues this will cause. Chalmers St. is a residential road that is in bad condition and it already deals with parking issues due to the lack of parking for Midland St. school staff. What’s wrong with Beaver Brook? How much money did the city spend to redo it so that it could become the largest filthy and usually empty green space in the city?

You don't tear up an urban park to put in plastic turf fields and stadium lights in the middle of a neighborhood. What the hell is wrong with Worcester? Leave it be!

Lots of good memories there. I'm 4th generation from the westside, we need to save Duffy for future generations to enjoy!!!

I grew up playing with friends at Duffy Field. It is an essential part of the neighborhood

"They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot" - Joni Mitchell. What a terrible idea. I've always thought that the adjacent trees and park area were a benefit to the neighborhood and the school. This stupid idea would completely change the character of the neighborhood and ruin the school area.

Please keep the park as a park!

We need to maintain our green spaces and parks, not start tearing them down to put up parking lots and turf fields.

I grew up going to Midland Street school and used Duffy Field as our place for spree day. It would be a shame to make this field for high school sports only and deprive the elementary school of their field.

We desperately need to preserve our green spaces.

The popularity of particular sports changess sometie even quickly. Human need for green space in cities does not. Once the green space is gone it is gone forever. Look at what parks have meant during this pandemic period.

Duffy Field is a lovely area that should not be destroyed for a football field.

I moved to Worcester 20 years ago and while Worcester has made a lot progress in that time, there are some changes I do not agree with. Closing Duffy Field as a public space, installing lights... putting a stadium in the middle of a residential area is certainly not a change I can support. Living in the west side for over 6 years now, I have come to value this space and am incredibly disappointed with the city's persistence to turn this wonderful park that everyone can enjoy into a turf field that only a limited number of people will be able to utilize.
