In this day and age, with such a scarcity of green spaces in our dense residential community, why would we consider replacing this beautiful woods with a water retention pond and cleaning area, that would not only pose threats to area residents, but also to the children attending the adjacent K-4 school with the associated mosquito and safety concerns. This is our community. Can't we find a more creative solution that doesn't so negatively impact our residents, and the generations to come that would continue to enjoy the natural beauty and many benefits Crow Island Woods offers?

I can't believe what I am hearing. To alter crow island woods for a storm water dump, it is INSANE!!

We teach our children to respect and preserve nature, and then we tear down the woods behind their school and turn it into a swamp where pollutants can be stored? What kind of an example are we setting? Let alone the potential health/safety hazards of having this so close to a school for young children. Terrible idea.

This is insane! It's not fair to the residents of Winnetka who have spent a fortune for decades on taxes and the easy way out is to cut down this gorgeous area to be a waste dump????? This happens then I move out of Winnetka

These woods are the only remainder left of the original "habitat" of "crow Island" and a sanctuary for the wild birds and animals, used and loved by all wild and domestic residents.

The woods are part of our legacy and came before the historic CrowIsland school.

This would be a terrible loss

I am opposed to using Crow Island as a water basin. This is one of the few undeveloped areas in Winnetka and it needs to be protected.

I was surprised to learn of this proposal. If it is going to be advanced seriously, there needs to be more disclosure and public discussion.

Converting Crow Island Woods into a water retention basin is a terrible idea and a terrible waste of natural, educational and financial resources.

I oppose this proposal vehemently. Please find other alternatives.

Crow Island Woods is a very special place for kids to explore. Making it into a water basin is a horrible idea.

Losing Crow Island Woods would be a devastating blow to what little "unstructured" park area we have left in this Village. Please encourage others to voice their concern over this plan!

Deeply concerned that they would concern destroying crow island woods and all that it brings to community for storm water management. I strongly oppose such a plan!

We need to save Crow Island Woods from this dangerous plan. Crow Island Woods is directly next to a school and in the middle of a neighborhood with many children and families that would be directly affected.

There are many other locales away from a school where children attend and play that are more suitable for this project. In addition such locales have less of a potentially detrimental effect on property values. Both reasons and all those others noted are more than sufficient to keep this away from Crow Island woods.

Crow Island Woods is an integral part of our community and it should not be turned into a water retention pond with all the risks associated with it (mosquitoes, safety concerns, decreased property values to say nothing of the loss Crow Island School would feel given the many ways the teachers and students utilize this natural resource).

There are little enough green spaces left in Winnetka and Crow Island Woods is one of the few. Preserve it for future generations to enjoy and be more imaginative regarding flood control.
