Almost half of Connexions staff face losing their jobs:
Connexions supports young people aged 13-19 with information, advice and guidance around careers, jobs, training, benefits, housing, mental health, sexual health and higher education.
From March 2011 if young people need impartial advice or support with these things it may not be available -
• Being made homeless or having no money
• Needing careers advice in school/college
• Worried about being pregnant
• Not knowing how to get a job or if you have the right the skills to get a job
• Not knowing whether to get a job/training or go to college:
Connexions may not be able to help you in the future
EMA has gone.
Unemployment is increasing.
Young people need to know what options are available to them, now more than ever before.

I have spent the last three days drafting formal briefings for the local council members to outline the specific impact of these staff cuts. I am currently waiting for a response from the department head to discuss a timeline for these proposed changes. Further updates will follow once I receive a definitive reply regarding their decision process.

Stop the cuts. Young people need this support right now with the way the economy is.

Rochdale youth already has nothing. Taking away the one place they can go for real advice is just cruel.

This service helped me when I was struggling with college options. Cutting this is a massive mistake that will hurt so many kids in rochdale.

My son used connexions last year and it gave him direction when he was lost. This is so wrong.
