THIS PETITION HAS NOW BEEN CLOSED. Colbar has been restored and moved to a new location and it is great. Sorry for the late notice if you\'ve just stumbled on this page but I was away.
We are petitioning to ask for Colbar and the row of shops next to it to be preserved intact.
We are asking the Land Transport Authority to relook its proposal for a flyover linking the AYE to Queensway. It is currently fairly convenient to get to Queensway from the AYE itself, about 5mins by car (no jam) to 20 mins (crazy jam).
If this is not possible, we are asking the Land Transport Authority to relook the design of the flyover such that the Colbar stretch, as well as the atmosphere and spirit of Portsdown area, can be preserved.
The last day for the petition is March 31, 2003. After that, a copy of the petition will be sent to The Land Transport Authority.
UPDATE: As of Feb 27, we have 88 signatures. Thanks guys!
You might have read updates of the situation in the papers last week. What ever happens, I\'ll still send the petition to LTA so that they have a sense of the strong attachment to the place.
I am currently drafting the formal letter to the Land Transport Authority to ensure they ignore none of your comments. Please email your local representative today to insist they prioritize historical preservation over this flyover project.
February 18, 2003
The momentum behind this effort is undeniable and shows how much this place means to everyone. Please keep directing your energy toward contacting the Land Transport Authority to demand better preservation plans.

The flyover is a bad idea. Seriously people need to stop tearing down the few good spots left in SG.

Keep our history. Everything is being torn down for more concrete. Enough is enough.
