Please keep vaynor playing fields for the kids sake. Plenty of room at vaynor old site to build a new school

Does anyone have any good suggestions as to a viable place to build the new school within the Vaynor Ward that's big enough to have the educational and recreational facilities the children of the Ward need and deserve and have been promised for a long time? The Vaynor site would mean a split site school in which the sporting facilities would be the field and the education dept have issues with that around safeguarding unfortunately. And despite local councillors best efforts highways aren't budging on access issues. Does anyone here have any strong opinions on saving the school and prioritising education? Just curious because if you do then suggesting solutions and alternatives to the field would be a good idea!

If they build the school the rugby boys will not be able to play rugby, if they build a 4G pitch it will not be full size pitch therefore the older age groups will not be to play because they need a full size pitch to play

This field is vital for the community health and well being and physical development of the children now and in the future. The school would be best suited to the vaynor penderyn site as originally planned and promised.

Having played for cefn in mini and juniors, youth and play for the seniors and have also coached there to I can't believe they want to build houses. this is so important to Cefn as a community, why are the council targeting a ground that is being used to help with kids growth as a person and as a player and at the same time keeping kids off roads and keeping them fit. There's loads of areas in Merthyr that is not being used and in need of development.

This make no sense what so ever, close one school in Blackwood that was already established to build houses, then destroy a green to build a school?
One of the best things about living in this area (or was) is the surrounding greenery. Slowly it's disappearing. When I was a kid growing up in cefn forest the greens were vast, playing "army soldiers " in the long grass up where high fields now stands. I understand the need for schools houses etc. But why close one just to open another a few years later?

I understand the need for a new,modern school for our children but I also understand the greater need too keep the jewel in cefn's crown, our playing field. How many communities would give their back teeth to have this much green land for their residents to enjoy. This is a quick fix, easy option for this council to take instead of earning their money and working out what is best for the handful of people working in the education department and the thousands living and visiting Cefn. How green was my valley! How gray was my valley more like it if it's left to this council. When that field is gone, it's gone for ever. This council has no thought for residents,the green open space for everyone of all ages too enjoy and have no respect for the field in trust order that protects this little piece of Gods precious land.

I have two sons who both play rugby for Cefn Coed RFC. They absolutely love the team spirit and can't wait to see the friends that they have made since they started playing. It gets them outdoors in all weather and encourages exercise, confidence and wellbeing. Please save our fields.
