The school board has officially voted to keep Colony Bend Elementary open. This outcome represents a thoughtful shift in their long term planning and reflects the value we place on our local community. I am deeply thankful for the patience and resolve shown by everyone who participated in this process.

Final supporters
We, the undersigned parents and supporters of Colony Bend Elementary school, and residents of the Colony Bend, Colony Grant, Williams Grant and Sweetwater neighborhoods of First Colony, respectfully request that the FBISD Board of Directors consider all options for keeping our elementary school open. A closure would have a significant negative impact on the education and well being of our children, would increase traffic volume while endangering students' safety, would decrease property values and would change the quality of life in our neighborhood. We believe there are better long term solutions for FBISD that will balance the currently low local enrollment numbers with the regional FBISD growth projections. We appreciate your support.

Ridiculous idea. Neighborhood schools are supposed to be safe places for kids to learn not something to be cut for budget reasons.
Property values are already barely holding on. If they close this school it will be a disaster for anyone trying to sell a home here.
Traffic on these streets is bad enough as it is. Adding more buses and cars to the main roads will just make it dangerous for the kids.
They act like enrollment is low but they aren't looking at the new families moving in right now. Shortsighted.
This school is the heart of our neighborhood! My kids walk here every day and I cant imagine them having to be bussed across town. Keep it open.
