Preserve Vital Agricultural Land at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo

Please put the Ag Land first. Cal Poly is an Ag college first and foremost. Keep it that way.

Save the agricultural land - it is a finite resource and once lost, can not be replaced.

The ability to practice the learn by doing philosophy is what makes cal poly so unique and a great school.

Please preserve Cal Poly ag land

Since no one is building new high quality agriculture land at Cal Poly, save what is there.

Land needed for Diary and open lab is wasted if built upon....pls consider tearing down NOT building over.

Cal Poly's prime ag land should remain solely for agricultural use and education.

You have such unique and important teaching facilities. Its really farsighted to preserve this kind of teaching in an environment that gives the students real experiences. Your master plan needs to focus on preserving the farmland and fields that provide these essential opportunities for Learning By Doing.

These were valuable lands when I was a student and they should continue to be an intrigal part of of the Cal Poly motto learn by doing!

I have been involved with the Cal Poly Dairy Science Program and the Dairy for many years now. It is an honor for me to interact with the students as a guest lecturer, a mentor with Dairy Challenge and other activities. Crucial to Cal Poly's mission is the principle of "learn by doing". That is why it is important to preserve land for agricultural use. This land serves a variety of functions from bionutrient management and forage production to research and student practices and demonstrations. I really hope the master plan considers options that allow for all this vital uses.

I support the preservation of the 17 acres along Mount Bishop Rd. which is vital to the DSCI program and the Dairy.

Learn by doing ! Keep Cal Poly as it is!

Save Cal Poly's AG land!

Dairy is the #1 agriculture industry in California and Cal Poly has always been the leading university to insure the next generation will continue to produce high quality safe dairy products for a growing global population. If we remove the "practical hands on" education out of Cal Poly, we lose this important program. Converting land that is necessary for the dairy program to survive into parking structures or buildings not only detrimental to viability of the Cal Poly dairy program, but sends a clear message that progress and land development is more important then food production.

Agriculture is an enormously important California industry and to de-emphasize it at one of the most prominent agricultural colleges in the country is outrageous. Please save the ag land at Cal Poly!

The dairy must have a means of dealing with waste water/bio nutrient management in order to continue to operate. Without the dairy, there is no DSCI program! The land is also used to provide forages to the dairy. This past year we were able to double crop with silage and triticale. The fields are used for grazing for our heifers and other heifers on campus. In addition these fields are used for two big open house events: Tractor Pull and Rodeo Several faculty members are doing research utilizing these fields. Land is also used for forage classes and fertilizer labs to demonstrate the “Learn by Doing” motto.

We need to Preserve as much Ag land and education as we can.

As a graduating senior it is disheartening to see how the administration has shifted through the last four years (the limited time I've been here) and today represents a body of people who do not care about students or the quality of education we receive here. Cal Poly is known for our Learn by Doing motto and the hands on work which happens at the dairy unit is a part of what makes the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences one of the best in the country. I am so sad to see the "expansion" of this university come at the cost of our quality of education. This doesn't only affect Cal Poly students or the agriculture industry, but everyone who profits from food, fiber, fuel or flora.
