It is an appalling betrayal of all the principles of dairy management and sustainable agriculture to reduce these prime acres for projects that can be accommodated elsewhere on campus.

Cal Poly is known as an outstanding Ag school. This is why I have an Ag student attending! Please, leave this land for the students to "Learn by Doing." Isn't that what Cal Poly is all about?

As a Prof. Emeritus Cal Poly(Computer Engineering), I strongly disagree with Pres. Armstrong's proposal!
Cal Poly has long been known for its outstanding Ag. School and it would be a travesty to undermine this with his stupid proposal.

Keep agriculture strong at Cal Poly – SLO. You lose the Ag students, you lose the heart of what this school should stand for. You've already pushed them far away from the center of campus, even further away than when I was a student. Alumni 2007, AGSCI

My husband attended Cal Poly Pomoma and worked in the beef unit. This is an outstanding opportunity for kids to get hands on experience which I believe our schools need more of. Please keep the program for our future.

By even considering this, the college leaders are declaring that urbanization is more important than farming, that the best use for land is for urban uses. The leaders of a strong Ag school should be declaring to the world that food and water are important – they are the only resource you absolutely need. Cal Poly should be the herald of “ag is the heart of California, ag can be profitable, agricultural land is precious”. If only on symbolic grounds, this proposal should be rejected. It opposes the roots, the public image and the coolest part of Cal Poly. Do not push the AG students, already on the outskirts, further from Campus.

More and more agriculture land at all the colleges and universities are being diverted for other uses particulary if they provide additional income. The college is for learning. And in ag schools it is learn by doing. But, consistantly more and more Ag land is being taken away even after spending money to appear they are supporting Agriculture. We need to be preserving vital agriculture land and facilities to train students for the number one industry in the state..
