Cal Poly grad 1999. Change can be good, but don't take away vital space!

4-H leader for almost 30 years. Countless youth sent to CalPoly because of Ag. I always chose Poly over davis for prevet, but maybe the school doesn't want to be known for this, very sad.

We need our land for our students and our community! We have had it in the past and need it for the future!

The Cal Poly dairy facility provides students with the opportunity to experience the daily aspects of California's most valuable agricultural product. For me personally, it allowed me to gain knowledge and experience in production agriculture which was a pre-requisite for my job as an agriculture teacher. To not have that opportunity would have limited my employability in the field of Ag education.

Cal Poly was built as an Agriculture School. Now every time they need room they expand onto the Agriculture units. I have watched several units over the years be moved away off campus for more space. Cal Poly still has one of the best Agriculture programs in the country, if this continues we will not have one of the best Agriculture programs in the country. Please stop destroying Agriculture on the Cal Poly campus.

Cal Poly was started as a land grant university. Ag should remain it's focus, that requires farmland . Please reconsider the proposed plan.

I would hope the master plan committee reconsiders taking away land for educational purposes and trying to use it to establish buildings the school does not need. With the highest rate of NOT accepting students, why would the planning committee try to take away educational land for buildings that won't help anyone?? Leave the agriculture units as hands-on learning!

Too many schools are losing their ag land for other purposes. Don't allow that to happen at Cal Poly.

Preserve and protect the one thing that makes Cal poly SLO stand out above the rest!

As a former SLO student, the thought of not having the dairy facility, let alone the agriculture land, within walking distance of campus is heartbreaking. When I attended school, I did not own a car, so I either biked or walked from Shasta Hall so I could work at the dairy and attend classes/labs. Working there put me through school! I currently work at Purdue University where the Animal Science facility is off campus approximately seven miles away. How many students are not involved on a day to day basis at the farm because of the distance to get there, when you can walk to a job just a block or two from campus? I hope President Armstrong, who has an agriculture background, stops and realized the impact, let alone the cost to move and rebuild facilities, of this long term plan. Cal Poly is unique and it should stay the course of being a "Learn By Doing" experience.

My best experience of college was being on the dairy at Cal Poly.

Ag is a very important part of California's jobs and taking land away from that is taking away from very important teaching and doing....

Agriculture is a necessary major for am ever growing population. There is a reason it is considered a national security issue. By having abundant food our country is able to advance in other areas amd further develope.
