Learn by doing is the reason I went to school there! Anyone can go to a school with buildings and parking lots! Cal Poly has its reputation for the hands on experience the students receive.

I graduated from the Animal Science program in 2008 and the agricultural component was invaluable to my Learn By Doing education. This plan will negatively impact the educational opportunities for future Animal Science classes and hurt the quality of graduates taking the Cal Poly name to the world when they graduate. I strongly emplore you to reconsider this proposal and instead consider the impact of removing outdoor classroom opportunities for students.

Cal Poly is known, even in Florida, for having an outstanding agricultural education program in dairy science. In an effort to change and update your Master Plan, be sure that you don't loose your "brand" and and an opportunity to continue to develop an already outstanding program. Why is it that agriculture and dairy farms are important? Where else in the United States can students learn and research be conducted? Perhaps you could lend additional funding to this program and build the finest program in the USA in your backyard? Or maybe it would be time to encourage your students and professors to look to the University of Florida as an alternative location to pursue their valuable research. Cal Poly is at a fork in the road, choose wisely.

Keep Cal Poly a strong agriculture school by expanding the possibilities to student in the CAFES instead of reducing these programs. It is vital to the state and to the country.

I went to visit this beautiful campus and learn about the Animal Science Graduate programs years back and after touring the facilities it was evident that this is a state of the art program they are running and that needs to be preserved and expanded if anything so I will gladly sign it.

We need future farmers and Cal Poly has the land and means to provide and educate our future farmers. Taking away the land they need for their program will harm all the future communities they were destined to impact.

California is the number one milk producing state in the nation. Cal Poly provides affordable education for those who seek careers in the dairy industry. Please, do not destroy a program that develops leaders in the dairy industry. Master Plan needs to look elsewhere to expand.

Once the Ag land is gone, it is gone. Preserve this precious resource. Our future depends on it. This is Cow Poly. San Luis Obispo.

It is a vital component in the progression of the agriculture industry for our future farmers, ranchers, and associated careers that provide the necessities of life in food, shelter, and health.

It is vital that Cal- Poly keeps the dairy science department going. Many students benefit from the program. Especially those who live on Dairys in the valley and expect to learn management skills to manage their own farms.

My daughter attended Cal Poly and is not in Vet school. She took several dairy classes as well as many other animal related classes. These classes made it possible for her to be admitted to the Vet program of her choice.(Cummings School Of Veterinary Medicine Tufts) The experience she gained also made it possible for her to get a job at the large animal hospital at her vet school. There are very few colleges in California that offer the type of animal science classes that Cal Poly offers. I believe that Cal Poly should make sure it keeps the 17 acres along Mount Bishop Rd solely for agricultural use.

Cal Poly is well respected for its AG program and should continue to have the facilities for students to continue the "learn by doing" that Cal Poly is so well known for.

I hate concrete, and my husband was a contractor and land developer. But he would never want to see land abused and taken away from what God intended, (pardon me), critters!

The practical knowledge that is leaned with real world experience is the type of knowledge that will last a life time, not just to the next exam.
