As an alum I'm highly disappointed in the decision to remove these productive and valuable learning-based lands in lieu of parking. I hope Cal Poly will rethink their position, if they do not I'll certainly be re-thinking where my donation dollars go in the future.

Please keep Cal Poly's agricultural land in use to maintain the 'learn by doing' teaching philosophy! Cal Poly utilizes this land in educating the future leaders in many aspects of agriculture and food production, benefiting all!

I urge the Masterplan Committee to seriously reconsider and reevaluate this plan of action. Cal Poly was built on an agricultural foundation, and agriculture continues to be one of the most attractive, unique and charming attributes of the campus. Beyond the beauty the "farmland" offers, the educational component is beyond invaluable and incredibly important, now and in the future. As the science of agriculture continues to grow by leaps and bounds, the availability of these lands is more critical than ever.
There is a song written by Joni Mitchell that has the lyrics "they paved paradise to put up a parking lot" - please don't pave even more of this paradise we know and love-Cal Poly. The open lands, the animals, are valuable to all students of Cal Poly, past, present and future. Please reconsider.

There are so few collegiate agriculture programs in the state of California. Why administrators would chose to harm one of the greatest agriculture schools in the country is beyond me. The dairy science program specifically is world class. When you speak to professionals in the dairy industry in California and ask them where did they earn their B.S degree from, you're most likely going to get one of two answers; Cornell University (an Ivy League school), or Cal Poly SLO. That is how good the dairy program is at Cal Poly, it compares, competes, and exceeds and Ivy League school. I should know, I'm a DSCI graduate from Cal Poly SLO's class of 2013. Don't do anything to harm the DSCI program and other agriculture program. It's just not smart.

No Farms, No Farmers, No Food.
Agriculture is an integral part of our society. Agriculture is what keeps the people of the United States alive, and agriculture is what brings people and communities together.
Do not let Cal Poly SLO lose their agriculture land! Our Nation Needs Farmers and Agriculturalists!

I am adimantly against the conversion of prime farmland to concrete. Once you pave over it, it is gone. You cannot make more of it.
I urge you to reconsider your plans to pave this ground and take a look at going up with buildings instead of out.
Thank you
