"Learn by doing" is what makes Cal Poly unique, successful, and affective. These plots of land are vital to the department to maintain functionality while demonstrating high standards of animal welfare and responsible land management. To eliminate them from the agriculture department and hinder the ability to give students a hands on education would be a huge detriment and would remove exactly what makes Cal Poly's Ag department stand out in the first place.

I am sick of seeing REAL education taken from our young people; they are our future and I am sure Cal Poly can find adjacent property or nearby property to accomplish their "dorm" goals.

Future growth of Cal Poly should not come at the expense of its Agricultural Programs.

Cal Poly dairy department and its agriculture facility is the foundation that made California the No. 1 dairy product producing state in the Nation. Let's not make drastic changes. Cal Poly has created many dairy leaders.

All of the Agriculture programs are essential to California and the Western States, future in food production and sustainability of our AG resources.

For Cal Poly to have a relevant DSCI program, land will be required. Please save this land in question for agricultural use.

As an agriculture teacher, I encourage all of my students to take advantage of the opportunities that the five agriculture colleges in California offer. I am a Cal Poly grad and it is discouraging to see that this college, known as a premier agriculture school, is limiting access for students.

I chose to transfer to Cal Poly from Wisconsin because of the excellent Dairy Science Program the college offered. Having a dairy farm on site that students are able to "learn by doing" is vital to the program's ability to recruit and obtain students to it's program. Generations of agriculturists from California and other states have supported the University by giving their time, talents and financial support. Please consider doing all that it takes to keep the land the dairy needs to function, undeveloped. By signing this petition, I agree and stand with the creator's of this petition.

Land Grant Universities should not forget their purpose. "The mission of these institutions as set forth in the 1862 Act is to focus on the teaching of practical agriculture, science, military science and engineering..." Thanks Wikipedia.

You can not expect what made this school great to continue to make it great in the form of a parking structure or building development. Cal Poly is the premier California agriculture school, yet plans to dismantle the land necessary for the ag programs seems to be the first suggestion for development every time. This has to stop!

Cal Poly educates some of the best agricultural producers through the 'learn by doing' philosophy! The world's need for agricultural production is only going to increase!!

Promises being broken again! Bottom pastures appropriated piece by piece with promises of leaving top pastures. Guarantees of long term support for the Dairy Unit and the program are ringing hollow with this new proposal to take even more land. Much of which is needed for the Waste Management Plan for the dairy effluent.

As a former Herd Manager from 2003 to 2005 it is a terrible idea. Learn by doing with a hands on commercial style dairy is what attracted out of state students like myself.

Move buildings across road. Why screw up an ongoing program. Is this college now going to pick out ag?
