The government reversed their decision and CAIRS will remain online. They felt the pressure from all 1,472 of us who demanded transparency. Stay alert so we can protect this system if they try to cut it again.

The Canadian Federal Government has quietly killed the Co-ordinated Access to Information Requests system. The system had served to make the government more open. With the death of CAIRS, the federal Conservatives have shut the door on transparency and accountability. We want the government to know how important it is for our democracy that the CAIRS system is maintained and improved. Access to information is absolutely vital to holding our governments accountable and the loss of CAIRS is a step backwards that CANADIANS DO NOT WANT. Keep Canada strong, accountable, and transparent. CAIRS must stay intact!

We are approaching one thousand signatures and need to hit that mark before our meeting with the department. Text three friends right now and ask them to add their names to this petition. Post the link to your Facebook timeline to push our numbers over the edge.

Reaching this level of support shows that people are paying attention to the silence coming from the government. Post the petition link on Facebook today and call your MP to demand they address the end of CAIRS.

The government is banking on the idea that we will stop paying attention but they are wrong. Right now I am preparing a formal packet of our concerns to deliver to the Information Commissioner. Email your Member of Parliament today and tell them that cutting access to information is unacceptable.

Typical. They don't want us asking questions so they just delete the system. Cowardly move.

Ridiculous decision. We need more transparency not less. Put it back.

How are we supposed to trust them if they keep hiding everything? Bring CAIRS back now.

Access to info is a right not a privilege. This is a massive step backwards for democracy in Canada.
