How many years have schools failed to provide the education to minority students which they have provided to non minority students? How many schools have faculties which provide such students with the respect, kindness and discipline with which Amandla does? These schools have challenges as do all schools. Sometimes they will meet and surpass these challenges as Amandla has. Sometimes they will fall short.
But how many schools serving this population ever surpass standards as Amandla has.
This school has a committed, hardworking compassionate staff which I believe deserves, as do the students, another chance.

Amandla Charter School continues to provide the kind of educational family environment - safe, supportive, challenging and productive - that is enabling under privileged young people to thrive. It is out-performing surrounding schools and is tireless in its drive to excel. For the sake of the students, their families and the neighborhood, keep this school open and support its growth and development.

Amandla is outperforming the nearby public schools along with outperforming several other schools within the CPS system. Do not take away choice of an education that better fits the individual needs of these students. Trust the parents.

This school has provided a beacon of hope to kids that are not born to a live of privilege that give them the opportunity they need to excel in school and in life. This school has made an undeniable impact and should remain open indefinitely to be a model to other Charter schools. This decision should be based on the needs of the kids, which clearly means that they should stay open.

Amandla Charter School grants students to unique experiences and opportunities to broaden their horizons and create well-rounded and functioning citizens in larger society. This school is a family and serves as a safe space for students to be just that.

Amandla is a school founded on the idea that youth in Englewood deserve a great education and are capable of reaching college, fully prepared. The staff and leadership continue to commit themselves to the cause, and offer a program that is already superior to most other options in the community, and it is a program which continues to evolve and improve. Englewood kids deserve more opportunities for success and support, not less.
