As a former teacher and having seen first hand the dedication and steadfast work the teachers and staff provide for better education I support Amandla as a charter school.

The student discipline and enthusiasm I personally witnessed tells me this school provides a quality education - without fear of gang involvement. This is important for establishing a nurturing learning experience. Amandla was a step in the right direction for isolating students away from gangs and providing a safe educational environment. We should not send these Children back to the public schools.

Im a business owner in Grand Rapids Mi and I forget the names of people I meet everyday but Ill never forget my teachers names or what they taught me. Dont take that from someone.

The staff of Amandla has been working tirelessly to change the culture of the school. In recent years there have been major, positive changes at the school, including increased student growth and achievement. I urge the board to reconsider closing the school and truly consider the progress made in the past 18 months. Thank you.
