Please keep Amandla open!!

As a proud parent of a Amandla student, we need to keep this school open. This is one of few that actually cares for the students and the students care for the teachers. These are great students who have a bright future ahead of them, but if you take their school (family) away from them you are doing more harm than good. Most of these children have been with this school since the beginning. Let them finish, allow them to be safe and let them learn in a familiar and comfortable environment. Stop shutting down inner city schools to only pack children on top of children. It seems as if your purposely wanting them to fail. Your closing of the first 50 did not work out well, but you want to close 10 more. Give our children a chance, stop telling them they are worthless.

today is the day we get a decision.... and as we wait this morning I wanted to share with the board this morning that.... Everyone says it takes a village to raise a child...WELL TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION I SAY TO YOU; AMANDLA, THE STUDENTS, PARENTS AND VOLUNTEERS HAVE AND ARE STILL BUILDING A VILLAGE TO BENEFIT ANY CHILD AND THEIR FAMILY IN ENGLEWOOD WITH A CHOICE AND VOICE TO SAY I CHOOSE AMANDLA....AND NOW YOU WANT TO TAKE THAT VOICE THAT CHOICE....TEAR DOWN OUR VILLAGE...TEAR DOWN SOMETHING THAT BENEFITS OUR COMMUNITY OUR CHILDREN...TEAR DOWN SOMETHING WE LOVE...WELL WE WON'T YOU TO KNOW WE ARE OUTRAGED....WE SEE LIFE IN THIS SCHOOL NOT DEATH...TEST SCORES COULD NEVER BE ENOUGH TO TELL YOU THE SUCCESS AND CORE VALUE OF THIS COLLEGE PREPARATORY CHARTER SCHOOL.....THIS SCHOOL IS PREPARING LEADERS, AND AGAIN I ASK WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TAKE THAT FROM US....I PRAY GOD SOFTENS YOUR HEARTS AND TOUCHES IT ON THIS DAY WITH THE LOVE FOR OUR CHILDREN AND AS WE AWAIT YOUR DECISION CONCERNING THE CLOSING OF OUR SCHOOL ... IN EVERY BLOWING WIND I PRAY THAT GOD SWAYS THE VOTES OF THE BOARD OUR WAY SO THAT WE MAY OBTAIN FAVOR... GOD knows what is good...and he won't with hold it from us... FAITH WILL #SAVEAMANDLA

Keep my son school open. John has been there for 5 years. He would be the second class to graduate. This school is family please do not take away the family.

These kids deserve a safe place to learn

I have seen Amandla grow over the past couple of years. I have seen them over new leadership turn the school into a school where great learning takes place, a place where the teachers care about their students, a place that should stay open for years upon years!

Save this school and these kids futures! They have worked too hard not to be recognized.

Closing schools shows how flawed the system is. Disrupting students' and families' lives by closing schools does nothing but cause feelings of failure among students, staff and the school community. Shame on CPS.

This school has dedicated staff that doesn't nothing but positive things for their students. It is a school full of great role models in a place where it is needed most.

Education forms our future, don't hold back the future of our children.

The rating system that is being used to close this school is not a fair or accurate representation of the value this school is bringing to the community. At the very least, the school deserves to have a clear rating system with terms that are understood well in advance of any "action" taken against the school.

Please - more schools like this are needed... keep Amandla open!
