A worthy cause to save an impressive building which should be preserved for all to enjoy.

You need to form an alliance with the National Trust - they have a track record of helping to save such buildings.

Beautiful house and part of our Heritage - it MUST be preserved!

It looks like a beautiful Arts and Crafts influenced house, and could clearly be a potentially self-funding UK heritage site. Restoring it to open it to the international public would seem a no-brainer. I just hope it can be done without the evidently-undeserving developer profiting unduly from public money or public donations.

I have read and re-read the book "Arthur and George" by Julian Barnes - which describes Undershaw and Conan Doyle's reasons for building it - and this is the reason I would like it preserved. Too many of our heritage homes have been destroyed in the past - I would be sad to see this happen to Undershaw.

To preserve the house that Conan Doyle wrote such amazing works would be part of all our legacy for future generations to admire and enjoy. We have just experienced the most thrilling and exciting series ever of his work on television. Saving this house is important - as has happened for the Bronte sisters.

If we can spend millions saving paintings that we will never be able to view we can save this house!

Developers in the UK can behave like some of the villains in Conan Doyles books. Stop them doing so

Why should this historic place be allowed to be turned into yet more money-spinners for developers? Once it's gone it's gone.

Is this not a prime candidate for National Trust custodianship?

With the continuous worldwide fascination for and interest in Conan Doyle's Sherlock character it seems a tragedy that this house should be demolished

Setting and comfort can be great keys to how writer writes, I would never want that destroyed. Knowing it was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's home and where some of the greatest pieces of literature were written (in my opinion) by him and Bram Stoker it would be a shame to let it go.

I am so surprised that we are needing to fight to save this house. It would make a fantastic museum or visitor centre.
