The property at 116 Old Pittsboro Rd is one of the only green spaces left in downtown Carrboro. (Picture: Carrboro Central Park!). In addition to its ecological diversity & geographic importance to the region (research shows green spaces are absolutely crucial to breathable, livable cities), the land houses important community projects

http://carrborogreenspace.org/ The Carrboro Greenspace seeks to cultivate community, environment and culture, for a livable tomorrow through sustainability education and practices, cultural activities, and social space. The Carrboro Greenspace is located on 10.5 acres in a beautiful park-like commons in downtown Carrboro. The Greenspace will serve as a hub for community driven sustainability projects. The land will house a federation of projects aimed at creating sustainability and community through education, practice and public engagement.

http://www.recyclery.info/ The ReCYCLEry is a direct-service not-for-profit organization whose mission is to encourage the use of the bicycle as a mode of transportation and recreation. Hosted at the Greenspace, the ReCYCLEry holds weekly open bike workshops, and also in-depth bike repair classes. ReCYCLEry members are also responsible for building all the bikes in Chapel Hill/Carrboro\'s Blue Urban Bike program.
