Reject the Special Permit for 1442 Main St., West Concord, MA

Enough is enough especially when it happens in West Concord!

This development will have a dramatic effect on flooding in the area. Years ago when Serafina Restauraunt wanted to expand it was denied because it was too much of an impact on the sewer system. I live in the only home directly next to Crosby’s. I have received no information as an abutter.

I strongly oppose the subdivision poposal at 1442 Main St. in Concord. It would significantly alter the character of the surrounding neighborhoods. The destruction of trees and cause a significant increase in pollution.

I moved to West Concord in October 2020. Allowing this development would significantly degrade the area and would benefit only the developer. I hope this subdivision will not be allowed to proceed.

This development has been a mistake from the beginning. ALWAYS too big, always in a place unsuitable for building. The need to destroy so much woodland area is proof alone. The trees offered a sound buffer from the MBTA- GONE. The number of cars of new homeowners (if this is built) will permanently increase air pollution and add to already severe traffic issues on Main Street. So in addition to the huge amounts of temporary noise and air pollution of trucking and construction, there will be permanent increase in noise and air pollution. The trees helped absorb water and well as CO2.. GONE.- flooding tracks predicted. This project is against too many Long Term Goals set by Town meetings. DO NOT GRANT A SPECIAL PERMIT for this project which should never have been allowed in the first place.

Enough is Enough…too much traffic….more kids in schools….more taxes!

As former long time residents of 1489 Main Street, I and my family strongly oppose this elimination of limited free space. The over concentration of housing units in West Concord needs to be seriously questioned.

Concord maintains it’s beauty by not falling prey to overbuilding and overcrowding like Wellesley, Newton, and countless other towns. Plus our infrastructure can’t handle any more than it already has. Stop trying to make Concord more than it is - leave it alone. It’s a beautiful, historic, quaint New England town. Don’t let it be destroyed on your watch! People remember!

Anything goes in West Concord. This is ridiculous.

There are solid evidence based reasons for rejecting this special permit. The developer is requesting the town ignore the regulations that are put in place to prevent this very thing from proceeding. Please respect and listen to the voice of community residents.

I do not agree with the specication set forth by the development so reject the special permit application.

West Concord has had a lot of changes that have changed the character of this once quiet village and now a congested housing projects that needs a special approval. Wants to change how this area will change for the worst for the residents by removing tons of soil and exposing the rail road and importantly what are the ground consequences in changing the topography for under ground water drainage and all the septic systems and drainage . Please stop this project and keep the character of West Concord and our neighborhood. ..

This would be a tragic loss.

We bought a house here because of the trees and green. If we wanted dense housing we would have moved else where.

A dreadful proposal, emblematic of the supercharged greed that is marking this decade. Stop it, for the sake of the generations to come. Our precious greenspaces, especially historically significant ones like Concord MUST BE PRESERVERD. It is our duty to do so.

There is a reason there are rules about what is reasonable to remove. The developer was aware of these rules when he bought the property. What makes this project so special that it deserves a special permit to avoid conforming?

We need all the trees we have to reduce climate change.
