Served on kimbolton station for 34 years so know what a vital resource to the community it is. If enough personal can be found to man it then it needs to stay open. Sadly finance counts over lives and property.

Having fire stations all around is essential and not something you should just shut down. Without these stations who's going to get to local villages so quickly.

We need a resource such as the fire station in Kimbolton. We are a long way from other stations and so emergency cover for our communities is essential. Already poorly serviced by other emergency services we should not add fire to that. Vital Part of the community as well as excellent for local recruitment.

It is critical to keep these fire stations open. The surrounding villages are isolated enough with minimal services, these closures make the communities even more vulnerable

It blows my mind to think that we could lose a valuable service. That over the years has been called upon. Ely to be our local Fire station a house will have burnt down by the time they even get to sutton roundabout...how many lives will be lost...blood on your hands.

This is a ridiculous move on the part of the management of the Cambridgeshire Fire Service given the unique position of th Kimbolton as other close county's with Fire Service over the boarder support are also struggling even day manning stations in Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.
Retained stations have been the backbone of the Service and with the structure that used to be in place some years ago the manning levels were always high and rarely were off the run. Due to increased contracts of employment and a less flexible approach to maintaining these three areas the public will not be able to rely on response times laid down.
As a previous firefighter of almost 28 years Service at Kimbolton I find this in extremely bad taste not providing the cover that Kimbolton has received since the 1800s, we in my time gave everything to the local and wider communities in supporting the Fire Service of Huntingdonshire, Peterborough and now Cambridgeshire.
There must be an enquiry into how this decision has come to this and a solution for the whole future of the Fire Brigade, and given the higher % increase that residents have paid in through the council tax.
