The city needs to support the gardening activities...especially with greater food insecurity on the way...

As a lover of gardens and a recent graduate of Westmont College, please listen to the voices of community members who’ve given themselves to care for this land! Places like this one are essential for us to regenerate connections with each other and the soil that feeds us. Make the choice that serves the interests of the soil, as that’ll be what’s best for people!

I live near the Eastside Garden; it brings joy to see our community engage in the essential art of farming and gardening . It is of upmost importance to our community, to our humanity, to have safe havens like these that unites people in a common ground of love in nurturing growth .

When I first moved to Santa Barbara in the early 70s I was introduced to this garden. I lived over on the west side, but I wasn’t finding anything comparable to what this garden had to offer. Working together with other gardeners built a community like no other. We listened. We learned. We loved and enjoyed.

There isn't anything like this anywhere else in the city, whereas there should be more. Let's make this space larger, not smaller and let's have more plot like this.

There needs to be more community gardens like this one. Please do not reduce the size of the gardens expand it!
