Why do the powers that be continue to wreck what is old Santa Barbara? Who will this improvement(?) benefit? Surely not the people who use and cherish the garden

The community garden is a valuable asset to Santa Barbara. We need more places for people to garden in a town where there is less and less opportunity and land for people to have a place to grow food and flowers and to be connected to the natural cycles of the seasons. We should be looking to expand community gardens and create more places for people to have this opportunity to connect with the earth.

Gardens are extremely important for body and soul. Please do not destroy something that's working and offers so many benefits for all ages. Offering more smaller plots is not a solution because that size does not offer adequate space. I would encourage leaving Yanonali Garden alone and finding space to build more community gardens in the city.

I receive such joy and produce from my vegetable garden and wonder if the people who want to dismantle such a vibrant growing area are even gardeners themselves. Please stop trying to destroy such a well cared for and loved garden!

I grew up on a farm with a 1-2 acre garden depending on that year's rotation, and the fruit and vegetables grown there fed not only my family but our neighbors and those less fortunate. Please do not undo the careful work of Yanonali's gardeners who have created a positive environment for plant life as well as an educational and safe space for new gardeners. A community garden meets both nutritional and social needs for collaboration and quality of life with one's neighbors. Please do not disturb the garden.

Gardens are an incredibly important aspect of outdoor life. Not only do they beckon to “come out; enjoy nature; grow some food”, they are soul renewing! Not only should “Parks” and “Council” listen very closely to the current Yananoli gardeners and incorporate their ideas as much as possible, additional efforts should be made to create more neighborhood gardens! Please direct attention to what needs fixing, not to fixing what isn’t broken.

Had a lovely chat with an active gardener there recently, "Robbie". To which, if I had not, I may not and read of Parks & Rec's public statements I may think the City was doing a good thing; as money was to go into it, it can be assumed an 'improvement'. After speaking with Robbie, and another gardener, I now can co-sign Councilmember Sneddon's favoring toward "not fixing what isn't broken."
I also saw the enthusiasm and pride they took in their garden, and the willingness to share information to non-gardeners re; the garden itself, how to apply, gardening questions (and some samples of fresh, raw veggies). Despite the resources of the City via P&R, those gardeners should be the deferred choice for what happens to this plot of land, saving tax-payer funds to spend elsewhere for 'improvements' which may lessen the intrinsic value local residents and their faithful gardeners hold so dear. May the best outcome come to be!

Leave the yanonali park gardens alone!!! The city shouldn't waste precious money on unnecessary expenses! Why does it take a PETITION to tell you to do what you should already know to do: talk to the people using the gardens to learn how to further benefit what has already been successful for so many decades!!

Stop the plans to bulldoze Yanonali Garden! Don't shrink the plots! Leave the plot to gardeners who love it and share its produce! This is a community place of peace and enjoying nature! Keep it as it is.

We have been blessed with a yard that accommodates our own garden. Through the years, we’ve taught our children how to garden and now our grandchildren. Happy to say that the grandkids now have their own gardens and delight in growing and eating their own fruits and veggies. LEAVE THE GARDEN ALONE FOR THIS COMMUNITY TO ENJOY!!!
