As someone who formerly had a plot at Yanonali Gardens I can attest to its importance for individual gardeners as well as the community. The decision to greatly reduce it—a decision made with virtually no community input—is as senseless as it is appalling!

It's so important to teach children and allow adults the open space for gardening. My hopes would be to have another garden plot become available in addition to this one. As the wait list is very long. There's currently a huge open space between the homes on California Street where I live. It would be absolutely amazing and brilliant if the city could turn that into public gardening.

Please do not reduce the size of the garden! We need community gardens for our kids to learn about growing food! This type of space is essential for its educational value as well as for its harvests. It is a space that has existed for decades. Please stop the construction and work around it!

The pandemic boom in gardening and rising inflation and food prices indicate expanding, not reducing overall community garden and individual plot size. Push the fence outward, and preserve the dignity of current 200' plot size. The sustainable, organic community garden provides connection with local residents of all ages to learn and grow together, and supports delicious healthy meals and good mental health, especially in these challenging times.

What's the justification for moving the fence? Need to find the referenced public meeting minutes because if, as stated in this petition, the sole reason for moving the fence is "straight fence will be easier to maintain when cutting grass", then this city is being run by idiots.

I temporarily took care of a sick friend’s plot a few years ago. The gardeners I met were raising supplemental foods for their families and friends. I was so impressed with their knowledge and commitment, and wished there were more community gardens around town.
