Windsor airport needs air traffic control to maintain a safe operating environment. We have a mix of commercial, private and training aircraft and we are within just a few miles of the very busy Detroit Metro airport. Their airspace extends right over the top of Windsor, just a few thousand feet above us. It also includes the Riverside Descent Area for aircraft on approach to Detroit City airport. We CANNOT allow this to happen ! There will be accidents if we do.

Foolish idea . We can't trust the people in power to think of our interests ahead of theirs. Loom what happened when they took the weather office away . Toronto does not know what is happening here by looking at a map that stops at London .

Not only does YQG provide jobs for Windsor residents but also Essex County residents. Safety is a priority and the control tower & airport firefighters & maintenance staff must be active to accommodate all air traffic .

As a Flight Instructor, I can attest that the personnel @ the CYQG tower have, on multiple occasions, been an extraordinary presence in the pursuit of safety. Add to that the element of ATC/Public education and interaction.

Leave the area with a tower! Switching to an mf would be detrimental to windsor!

It would be an utter disgrace for Canada’s busiest border city (Windsor) not to have an airport that is controlled and maintained by NavCanada.

Windsor has a mix of commercial operators (such as Jazz), jet engine planes and smaller GA planes, many of which have students at the controls, Detroit airspace sits directly over Windsor. All of this combined makes for potentially hazardous situation.
Air Traffic Controllers keep the pilots and the folk on the ground safe. Very short sighted of Nav Canada to put reducing costs before safety of everyone.
We have to fight to keep our tower open. If commercial operators stop coming to our city, anyone wishing to travel will be forced to drive to London or Toronto to catch a flight.
Vital part of our community.
