To my understanding there is other property available for building the High School do not destroy this beautiful Green Space.

I fully support the efforts to stop proposed construction on this beautiful property. There is vacant land that could be used for this purpose and not destroy the only public course in all of Reno.

One of the courses I grew up playing and one of the courses that fueled my passion for the sport. Would be a shame to see a place of peace and tranquility go down over $$$ when there are other sites to build

From the mountain above the course is a very sacred place for me. If the course goes the mountain will more than likely go as well. My sons cross is on that mountain overlooking wild creek. Please, reconsider .

Richard Jay, once again you speak as though you know the facts, yet so much of what you say is inaccurate, at best. First of all, I looked at several of the sites that correlate schools and property values. The part you fail to mention that all the studies clearly state is that property values MAY rise if the school is considered a “good”, “well rated” school. Because the building would be new does not equate the rating of the school to that standard. And let’s be completely honest here, Hug, along with the majority of public schools in Nevada, does not rate well. If they did, we would rate higher than 49th in the nation in education. Not to mention that property values near a golf course are not the ones we should be looking to raise as they are usually fairly stable. If raising property values were even remotely a concern, Hug would rebuild on their present site for their students and help revitalize a more depressed area in Reno. What an economic boost that could bring to that area. And yes, I am aware the plan is to re-purpose Hug into a vocational school. If that can be done, so too can re-purposing it as a high school and keep the kids in their neighborhood where they can ride their bikes and walk to school, rather than be bussed every day.
The articles do mention their were 9 sites “considered”. Of those 9 sites, per Pete Etchart, the COO of the WCSD, NO MONEY WHAT-SO-EVER, has been invested on any of those sites other than the one at Wildcreek, towards doing ANY due diligence on any measure of their viability as a site. They were looked at via sight observation. As for the 7 people involved in the decision, before simply stating they are “experts”, you may want to look a little more closely at who they are, who they work for and any potential gain they may achieve by telling the WCSD what it wants to hear. And as an “expert”, wouldn’t making the assertion that the Wildcreek sight is the “ best one” be considered premature, at best, when no actual

It’s interesting reading all of the comments that are lacking facts. Schools increase the property values, numerous studies to prove this are on line, best the one is realtors.com. RGJ and This is Reno ran an article examining all 9 possible sites, 7 experts determined Wildcreek was the best.
Oddie Blvd is out of the zone for Hug and would create even bigger overcrowding for Spanish Springs. A high school in a shopping center, parking, security and so much more makes this a deal killer.
The district has spent money to examine all sites. Wood Rogers will present a very detailed report at the end of November, all information has been listed on www.wcsdbuilding.com. No one has clearly given a site suitable for a high school, 60 acres, infrastructure, utilities, existing roads and within 1 mile of Hug HS. The TMCC site is no longer available, a new soccer and sports faculty will be built on the site. The other sites are privately owned and future plans will be announced. The site at the top of the hill has no roads, sewer, utilities, water and the cost to flatten the hill is cost prohibitive.
Are we looking out for our future or pandering to a hunderd golfers? Fact remains, since 2010 the course has lost $1 million and expected to lose $300,000 this year. No bond payments have been charged to the golf course and no capital improvemts since 2012. Holes played are down since 2010, revenue is down, expenses are up, and so much more. RSCVA decided to abandon the course, who covers those losses? Not the tax payers! There is a lot of fact posted on the SOSWASHOE Facebook page including the P&L since 2010, data and no opinions.

Why is it that no matter who you talk to in the community, there is almost no one who thinks that this site is the site we should use for a new school, yet the School District and School Board keep forging ahead as though there are no alternatives? Not a dime spent on vetting any other locations while hundreds of thousands have been spent trying to figure out how to use Wildcreek Golf Course. After not having any alternative plans for months, now they list some but say they're not really available or they're not as good. Not a single other site has been thoroughly examined; not a dime spent, even though all the other alternatives do not involve destroying any asset that is currently useable. Don't standby; write letters, reach out and make your voice be heard. I believe this location is a sorry excuse for compromise. There are other locations that are already bare and ready to start building. This location would need extreme infrastructure changes as well as a complete decimation of a wonderful ecosystem. A school here would destroy home/building values of the homes/businesses nearby. I believe there are other options that need to be addressed.

Wildcreek is a beautiful area of land that is beneficial for many reasons. Putting a mega high school on this property is not only cost prohibitive but puts a horrible burden on commuters and traffic, in general. This is one of the few routes to 395/80 via McCarran and one cannot imagine the negative impact this will cause in traffic. Please, please consider other options!

Too many other places better suited. Wild creek is an eco system of It's own. Excellent golf for young and old . The short course is one of a kind and needed.

Wildcreek is one of the few public courses that is beautiful and affordable to access. I go there as much to experience the wildlife as I do the golf! Marmots, Hawks, Eagles, Ducks, Rabbits and Ground squirrels. Where are they supposed to go now? There ARE other alternatives, but WCSD wants this area because it's easiest for them - no matter who and what they need to destroy. We have so few open areas left to access - How about for once we vote on the side of the wildlife and the environment.
