It is outlandish to me to think that after 4 years these people would be asked to give up their pets. As long as the pigs are not causing harm to anyone and are not a nuisance to the neighborhood, then there is no good reason for them to have to be given up. There are exceptions to every rule, and this should be one of those.

I am a huge supporter of Jonesboro Animal Control, but this gives me pause. Clearly Ms. Barkley is not violating the "spirit" of the law. This looks suspiciously like a witch hunt on the part of a neighbor or meddler. Ultimately, however, it does not reflect well on the city of Jonesboro and bodes poorly for future growth opportunities as they pertain individual rights.

Invoking an ordinance originally enacted in 1952 & not revisited since 1986 (30 years ago) without further fact gathering or consideration of the original intent of the law (curtailing a pig farm, NOT ones' pets [pot bellied or miniature pigs]) is poor application at best.
This ordinance needs to be brought to a vote for amendment and revision.

I know Dana from working at the hospital. I have watched her share pic of these pet pigs for several years.. The family appears to really love them and she has shared pics of her family with the pigs.. I hope ordinance will be upgraded and the family can continue to provide lots of love for their pets..,

These are PETS.....not breeders. Pets are part of the FAMILY. Stop being a Source of Harming these Family members.
