The park is a wonderful asset to the village and to cut down healthy, productive trees is quite outrageous. Judicious pruning could help prevent too many apples falling on the pathway. Please, please consider the opinions of the residents of Westwood.

England the country with the least biodiversity and tree cover in Europe. Fruit trees are being planted by communities and councils in Europe. I guess they have more intelligent cultured people sitting o their councils

I live in Westwood and have lived their my whole life. Do not remove these trees they are a important part of an ecosystem and have a positive affect on the wellbeing of the residents of Westwood. As well as this, there is really no need.

If the reasons provided for the removal of these trees is accurate. Then the decision to remove them is a disproportionate response to any risk posed by the trees or their fruit. Surely the funds allocated for this unnecessary work would be better spent pruning and crown raising the trees over the track through the park.

A dishonest reason to remove these trees.. more like freeing up the space to put a road through and then build more housing.. how about asking the people who live here what they want.

I’ve never heard such a ridiculous reason for chopping trees down. Please don’t chop the trees down. What excuse are they going to come up with next: Cut the deciduous trees down because they drop leaves and become trip hazards? Then replace all the grass with concrete so is not a slip hazard as well!

Let us make sure that these Apple trees have nothing to do with the play park and complaints about them are in relation to the fact that the ripe apple and leaves fall on the path.
I do understand those who want a manicured park in the middle of our village to match their concept of straight borders and immaculate lawns outside their private gardens. Westwood Park goes part way to keep the wilderness and wildlife away from them
