Please don't chop down these beautiful apple trees - they provide the community with an amazing supply of healthy free fruit, as well as being great for biodiversity and drawing down CO2 - I have spent many a lovely moment admiring these trees and enjoying the shade and wonderous habitat they provide for birds and pollinators.

These are beautiful trees. I just don't understand why you would chop them down "because of a tripping hazard". Nature does self-seed and knows what is best for it better than we do. They have flourished and should continue to so do. I think you should remove the fence in case somebody walks into it, remove the swings in case someone bumps themselves on it, remove the park in case someone enjoys it....

Mature trees provide food and habitat for wildlife that would take years to replace with new planting, therefore mature trees should be preserved wherever possible.
Please rethink this plan with emphasis on adding to biodiversity, not removing it.

I can’t believe anyone would want to fell these beautiful trees. I thought we were supposed to be trying to save our planet and resources not destroy them. Seriously what harm could they be doing ?

They are a pleasure to everyone who uses the park and it seems a huge overreaction to chop them down because of the supposed 'hazzard' of few apples on the path. Please join with the other local Parish Councils and aim to retain and plant trees, rather than removing them.

It beggars belief that at a time when so many local communities and organizations are planting trees to combat climate change and increase biodiversity, that Westwood Parish Council wish to chop down fruit trees. Shame on you, WPC.

I absolutely love these apple trees. They are beautiful, natural trees. They have a feeling of wildness about them. I always collect a few dozen apples to feed my friend ponies. The apples are not perfect and the branches are twisted and old. It makes me think if how perfect imperfection is and how lucky we are to have wild trees growing in a park. I get so much pleasure from the trees and would feel very sad if they were removed.

This is so crazy to cut down healthy trees. I enjoy these apples and have often eaten them on a walk. Please leave them to be they are beautiful
