This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. Next you'll be removing rocks from beaches as these are also a trip hazard. It's called nature and both us and the ecosystem needs it. Maybe people should just watch where they're going? Why deprive the wildlife and a community of such a wonderful resource?

With our planet facing a climate and environmental disaster it seems inconceivable to be chopping down any trees. They are a vital resource which should be protected.

The felling of these trees would be a very sad thing to do. I have often walked along this path and thought how wonderful they are for wildlife. Surely just a pruning back would be an option.

I do not live in the village but have relatives there and was made aware of the plight of the trees in the Telegraph. The park in Spring is a wonderful sight and the thought of cutting down trees anywhere is appalling. As quoted already, personal responsibility is needed and we should try to work with nature rather than against it. A good pruning may be in order.
