The Parish Cpuncil needs to start listening to the community that they are supposed to be serving.

Raise your eyes to a greater horizon. Look to the gift of an apple tree and all it has to offer - blossom, nectar, fruit, shade, beauty, connection with the mychorrizal layer, a carbon absorber, a vast home for birds, insects and other creatures.. Imagine all this going with a few swipes of a chainsaw. Imagine how diminished this place will be after.

Instead of felling prune carefully, and pompous as it sounds post a liability waver in the park in the event of litigation.

A “nanny state” attitude where the focus is on the wrong things. What about all the dangerous broken stiles on the County’s public rights of way.

Healthy free growing fruit trees are a benefit to the local community and the environment. They attract and encourage a biodiversity of insects which in turn supports birds to feed and thrive.
Also, anyone who wishes to pick fresh and truly nutritious wild fruit can do so. Which the local council surely would encourage for everyone.

What a ridiculous notion! Leave the trees, so people can enjoy the fruits. I have worked in Germany, where apple trees have deliberately been planted in public areas for people to enjoy (Kreiderbergsee, Luneburg). Enough of this nonsense.

Total ignorance of the environment by councillors. Absolutely disgraceful.
