I was never in JR ROTC, but my 15 year old son is now and what a difference it has made in his discipline and academics. He is now on the honor roll because Jr. ROTC provided purpose and a mission. Please do not let it go.

if it was not for MSgt Riggs I would have never finish high school he would not let me quit . So all of the formal cadets need to help stop the school board from getting rid of NC-9511

West Montgomery JROTC is not just a class or an elective, it's more than that. The JROTC is about building stronger leaders and better people in the community, it's about family and promoting what is right. It's a home away from home, something one can do to become a better leader in the future. Removing this program not only takes away a class, it breaks apart frienship, bonds, and sometimes, a second family. If it wasn't for this JROTC program, I wouldn't have met some awesome People and leaders. I wouldn't be where I'm at today. Don't take away a great opportunity from the communities students. Keep it and let it grow stronger.

The JROTC program provides opportunities, exposure to new experiences, and unparalleled life lesson to a greater extent than any other program in Montgomery county. JROTC provided a gateway to not only improve myself, but to improve my community through community service, mentoring programs, and civil service. I dare you to put forth one club, sport or vocational program currently in the school system with such a far reaching impact on the future of our students. As a member of AF-JROTC 9511 I witnessed the transformation of the underachiever into a teacher, the misguided into a mentor and the troublemaker into a leader. I hope you will take all of these positive effects into consideration and decide to keep JROTC at West Montgomery.

I was in one of the originals. I started in the first flights in 1995. It would be a shame to take away from the school such a significant part of many of our lives. Friendships, competitions, rivaling with Central Cabarrus (we were tug of war champions...

JROTC is not just a program; it is a lifestyle. The valuable skills it teaches you are unforgettable and transports you further in life. There are people out there who lack these skills and we are the crowd to teach them, to show them with pride what we learned because we had the opportunity. Don't take that away from our future. Don't take that away from the misguided minds who won't have the chance for guidance.
