Petition to Maintain and Improve the Public Toilets at West Angle Bay (SA71 5BE)
We, the undersigned residents and visitors, express our collective concern over the potential closure of the public toilets at West Angle Bay. These facilities are vital for ensuring the enjoyment, accessibility, and health and safety of all those who visit this beautiful and much-loved location.
Why the Public Toilets at West Angle Bay Must Be Preserved:
- Accessibility: The nearest alternative toilet facilities, located at Angle Village Hall, are half a mile away and accessible only via a busy road unsuitable for children to navigate alone. These facilities are not council-funded, have limited opening times, and do not adequately serve the needs of the community.
- Visitor Experience: Angle is a key destination for locals and tourists alike, attracting many visitors during the summer and holiday seasons. The availability of clean, functioning toilets is essential for maintaining a positive visitor experience, which in turn supports the local economy.
- Health and Hygiene: Without public toilets, visitors may be forced to resort to unhygienic alternatives, leading to significant public health and environmental hazards that would detract from the area’s natural beauty.
- Economic Importance: Angle contributes to Pembrokeshire’s tourism sector, which generates substantial revenue. Public toilets are a fundamental infrastructure need for sustaining and growing this economic contribution.
- Community Benefit: The beach is a source of recreation, physical activity, and mental well-being for residents of all ages. Ensuring proper facilities supports the quality of life for the local community.
We call upon Pembrokeshire Council to:
- Keep the public toilets at West Angle Bay open.
- Maintain and improve these facilities to meet the needs of visitors and the local community.
- Reinvest a portion of the revenue generated from car parking fees at West Angle Bay into the maintenance and upgrading of the public toilet facilities.
