This is the first year I have ever been bothered by maggots. Only since the change in pick ups by council.

The amount of food scraps that I place in the green waste bin is only a fraction of normal household waste I place in normal waste bin. It would be in the order of 5% on my weekly waste. I applaud the idea of recycling and sending less waste to landfill but if the amount of food waste is as high as suggested by council modelling then the answer is educating the public on food wastage. I would be inclined to think that the council's modelling of proportion of food waste in total household waste is way out.

It is disgusting that our weekly general bin service is now fortnightly. During summer the bin stinks leading it to be very unhygienic. This is a developed country and we pay enough taxes and rates that we deserve a weekly waste bin collection.

That's absurd and very unfair to parents with babies and toddlers. Surely discrimation against them and how about large families who fill their bins every week and also families with older disabled kids who are still in naps because they can't be toilet trained.
I've always thought Lake Macquarie Council are terrific. Hope that's not all about to change. Don't blot your copy book LMCC.

Sometimes my bin is completely full with 1 weeks worth of rubbish, not sure how you could stretch that over 2 weeks. I also already compost my veg scraps. We pay for this service with our rates, we should have a say in any changes in these services, especially as the current services were satisfactory.

We would not cope with it being put back to fortnightly with 2 young children in nappies, having them in a bin for a week is bad enough, but a fortnight?

I hope the council chooses to reverse this. My household bin is already full weekly im not sure how would manage without weekly pickups.
