Save Watford Bowls Club - a vital community hub

I'm 80 years old and find its a lifeline for older people

An important facility for all, especially the retired.

I was a member of the club for ovr 20 years and still visit the club as a member of opposing teams. Closure would be a loss to members who use the club more than once a week, but wouls also be the loss of a fixture for other bowls clubs and associations.

This outstanding bowls facility should not be redeveloped but the council should support it for the local community & Hertfordshire county bowlers.

Shame on the Liberal Dem party who are pressing for this bowls centre to be closed

Cubs that provide healthy exercise and entertainment to our ageing population must be supported and encouraged. For many this their only form of exercise and mental stimulation.

The whole thing is disgraceful and is just about money. The Council should be working towards encouraging people to take part in activities not putting them off.

Do it

Goes in the face of the Government recommending our elder generation take more exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The club provides help, advice, and a very important social atmosphere where members can not only meet and enjoy others company while playing but also enjoy a well cooked meal, which some 'single' members, unable to cook, rely on as their main source of healthy food. Why force the closure of a well supported club when it does so much for us all?

So important to so many people in Watford to enjoy sport and companionship.

This is such a shortsighted cost saving measure by Watford Council when weighed against the physical, social and mental benefits that this facility provides for it's memers and visitors alike. The fact that the overwhelming number of the membership is retired and aged can only increase the burden on local welfare / care facilities for older people which may also have been subject to heavy cuts in recent years. At the same time, Government is constantly urging older people to engage in physical and social activities to maintain their wellbeing. As a former member and someone who still looks forward to visiting Woodside Indoor Bowls Club, I urge Watford Council to keep the club open for everyone's benefit. Mike Cowell.

I think the council's attitude is disgusting and totally against all governmental advice about the taking of sensible exercise for the community.

Health and well being are so important.Please don't take their sunshine away.

Don't take away what little pleasures people have to make their lives more bearable. Community is so important
