Save Waterford Preschool

As a retired childcare teacher who has worked in long day & preschools for 25 years, I know the importance of having stability for such young children. My granddaughter Chloe has been at your preschool this year & was confirmed as booked in for next year. She has settled in & is so happy there. Before then, she was at a centre for 2 years & never settled & would cry & cling to the teachers all day. For some children this age, it’s a setback to have to leave & start again at a new preschool. She is starting to make little friends for the first time. I also feel for the staff at Waterford .This is a big extended family that is being broken apart. As if this year hasn’t been hard enough & so unsettling for children, their parents & everyone else. I empathise with the staff as I had a similar experience of unexpected centre closure. I had been employed at one special centre where all staff had been there many years. I had been there 13 years, another staff 19 years & other staff long term. Our Church Pastor & Centre Management Committee made the decision to close our centre down & we were gutted. Like Waterford we were a close bonded team, making a strong contribution to the children in our care, the parents & the broader community. Please reconsider this closure decision for all concerned, especially the children. Yours Sincerely Julie Crawford.

Few things deserve more attention than investing in early learning. For over 25 years at Waterford Preschool, children learn to develop a strong sense of identity and a sense of connectedness and contribution to their community. Supported by talented educators encouraging and enabling a new generation of lifelong learners, it's no surprise Waterford Preschool is rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard in Early Childhood Education and Care. It's such devastating news to the preschoolers, staff, families and community that Waverley College would make a squandering decision to close this much adored community asset.

Stay open for preschoolers

This is very very sad! A brilliant learning space with true educators who genuinely care for the kids. One of the most inclusive establishments I’ve come across. Please save Waterford xx

Waterford prioritises children with a disability, which few preschools in the Eastern suburbs preschools do. It’s unique and irreplaceable and needed in the community.

As a x-staff of the Waterford preschool I ‘m feeling shocked after reading this news. I hope everyone from Waverly community will come in front to save our Waterford preschool.

A school that's become a business. And carefactor for staff & community quickly deteriorating. Very sad to hear and so little respect for those that have built that community . Shame on greed‼‼‼

Waterford preschool is the best preschool in the Eastern suburbs. The best staff - all caring and dedicated. It’s the kind of place every child can thrive. Please don’t close it down!!!

Such a shame as we were looking forward to sending another of our children there.l next year. Devastating for everyone involved particularly given the short notice.

Insufficient notice and no phase out plan. Let the kids who have started the program finish the program. 3 months notice to find alternate early childhood learning is insufficient.
