For 51 years the Preschool has served the Waverley community as a centre of excellence, first as the demonstration Preschool for the Sydney Teachers College and the Institute of Early Childhood (it’s where the Wiggles first got together) and then as a community based preschool owned and operated by Waverley College. Fifty-one years where the Centre has embraced and nurtured children regardless of ability or status. Fifty-one years of dedicated educators providing an environment that encourages children to explore and develop at the most crucial learning time of their lives. Closure will leave the community, as a whole, poorer.

Please save Waterford!!! Waterford has been a well-known pre school in our community for the last 25 years. Every one knows the high quality of education and care provided by the educators there. To close the pre school at such short notice is absolutely shocking leaving families stranded. Waverley College that prides itself on being a school for all has suddenly forgotten about the young children within their community. Due to COVID situation, some pre-schools are closing, but Waterford is such a special school and all the more the doors should be open to service the community that’s crying for more pre schools like Waterford.

My two eldest boys attended Waterford, and my youngest would have had we not moved away! Waterford is a captivating environment with a wonderful team of dedicated staff, who have a refreshing perspective on early childhood education, open to nurturing the inquisitive mind. This culture is carried through from one educator to the next, as new people are onboarded and other staff retire. As far as I know staff stay a long time because it is altogether a beautiful exchange for them, for the children, and for the families. I have no idea why Waterford would need to be closed as already it is so difficult to find dedicated preschools, they are largely childcare centres these days. This is indeed a rare treasure, I would go so far as to ask for it to be added to the heritage register for its social significance! Please keep Waterford open!

Appalled by the way that this has been handled by Waverley College. Expected more from the Principal and School Board.
The disregard for the preschool children and their families is beyond belief. 60 families who are now scrambling to find a suitable alternative for 2021.
Waterford preschool is a beautiful centre, with the most amazing, caring staff. The closure of this centre will be a great loss to the community.

Early childhood education is so fundamental and important. Waterford is the best centre in the area. The care and love given to the children there is palpable when you walk in the door. You have stripped this valued centre from the community with little to no regard to its true impact. This is a loss for future generations.

We are devastated that Waterford preschool has been proposed to close. We understand Waverley college would like to expand its operations but at some point every school/business will have a limit to their expansion! Having a preschool that provides the most amazing environment and education to 60children a year, in what is the most important educational years of a child’s life has been totally overlooked.
Especially providing only a terms notice is not in fairness, kindness and decency to the staff, students and families, in particular those that haven’t completed their education at Waterford yet!!! That surely Isn't the Catholic way of conducting oneself.
