The pool is well used and supported by the local community who pay fees to the council that maintain it. We, the community do not want the Aquatic Centre to be demolished! And how ridiculous to suggest it after the expense of upgrading the centre last year...

Any new development or redevelopment needs to include a waterpolo specific pool

Closing a facility like this means you never get it back as it cost too much. Check information on Nowra Pool which was also to be closed and was not only kept open but renovated. It is one of the best pools I have swum in. With the support of the local member and the community they won!!

Why close the only indoor 50m facility down? My kids play water polo here and we like to use the centre.

Why close a perfectly suitable facility with space and trees surrounding it.... it makes no sense! It's a public space for the public ... it's becoming a rarity.

We will have no where with shade to have our swimming carnival. Manly boy Charlton is a joke of an option with temporary shading while all the kids tried to huddle out of the rain and sun this week.

Unfortunately councils do not really appreciate the community and their needs. They pretend they do, but time after time we see them do stupid things like this. Closing the WAC is ridiculous would mean there is no indoor 50m competition pool on the norther beaches. The new Manly Boy Charlton Swim Centre is a total joke. Waterpolo which is a major Northern Beaches sport is already totally restricted and under resourced. Get real!!!!

Is it cost effective to knock down a fully functional centre and rebuild another one from scratch? Why not relocate the school next to the centre? The school kids can use the facility as well.

The pool is a very important community asset. The play area for kids is fantastic, and the ability to move between 25 m and 50 m for training, plus stands and dive pool make it a truly versatile facility.

This is madness even contemplating closing this facility! My entire family swim there weekly AND my 3 girls take swim lessons there. Why not upgrade the facility and make it a competitive size pool. InsteD of having to drive to Homebush to compete, it'd be right here on the beaches. What an income it would generate and a win win for the community!!!
