After looking after my husband for over 10 years as a result of a stroke causing him to suffer from vascular dementia, I fully endorse the need to keep Ward 10 up and running!

I am the Ward 10 social worker and if it is closed it will be a very sad day for the people of Solihull. It offers expertise in Dementia care, is a safe, informal and warm therapeutic environment for patients with Dementia.

while acute care may be better centralised in centres of excellence end of life care needs to be ditributed close to where people live to enable frequent visits from friends and relatives

A Denentia ward like ward 10 in Solihull iHospital is essential. When a person with Dementia is taken out of their comfort zone they become very afraid and need specially trained Nurses and Doctors to care for them.

The Solihull area has a high population of elderly residents. Dementia suffers need specially trained and skilled staff to understand how to care for them. They need to be close enough to relatives so they can be visited by familiar faces to reassure them as they get very frightened in hospital. Care in this area should be improved.

An ongoing serious problem so we close an essential facility- what sense does that make?
