Walsall cannot afford to lose it's Museum. Saving £70,000 would not justify the loss of exhibiting Walsall's history.

If the intention to close the Walsall museum is another local council ordered by government to cut spending (a short term measure), culture and local history are treated as superfluous and a luxury. It's possible local people could set up a trust or charity to raise £70,000, but let's hope the council change their minds and agree to a permanent museum rather than an ephemeral one .

The library is a valuable service to under privilaged children. Not everybody can afford the internet at home.

The museum provides a vital community engagement function that would cost in excess of £70,000 a year to resolve through alternative means. We are aware that museums need to develop, but this one is already providing vital local services. If the museum is closed, what will be come of the building and the collections. If there is a commercial value to the building could this not be used to rehouse the museum perhaps co-locatign with hte leather museum?

I grew up nearby and remember visiting the museum as a child. The people of Walsall and the locality deserve a centrally located museum which helps them discover the past and look to the future!

Something has to be done to keep the museum going, even independently of the council. Once those doors shut we'll never get it back.

I'm shocked that anyone would even think of closing the museum just to save £70,000.. I know for a fact that people come from all over to the Museum not just local people.. If they hadn't have bought a new car there was £50,000.. & I'm sure if managment bought sandwichs to work that would make up the rest..

As usual Walsall Council are prepared to invest in shopping centres instead of promoting and preserving our local history and heritage. This £70K was what has been spent on the new mayoral car.

as a director of the volunteer led Oswestry Town Museum we are only too aware of the benefits, financial, educational and local feelgood that a local museum brings to the area

I disagree with Walsall’s museum being closed. Walsall is a very important place with very important people living in it. The people of Walsall deserve councillors that understands this. The people of Walsall could save a great deal more than £70.000 by getting rid of an out of touch council. Sister Dora alone deserves to save the museum all on her own. Save money by sending the mayors new car back which I have been told he did not even want. I understand the mayor raises a lot of money for charity well maybe he would consider raising the money to save the museum. In the museum I go to a wonderful craft with Barbara. Well if the mayor really needs a new car we could all make him one out of papier-mâché. The council could also get rid of that awful art gallery. It is a complete waste of space, all that is in there is fresh air. There isn’t even a big lift to take up the big art work! Just like the council. A lot of the so called art is in my opinion rubbish. I did like the paper castle. And the sparkle white mountain peaks. That poor sheep looked very unhappy and if I were the sheep I would rather have been made into lamb chops. And been tasty for children. Instead of just plain scarry. Why has my art work not been displayed in it? I love painting! Generally the council have very strange and non productive values. The town is still full of pigeons and the buses are useless. Running the local buses was actually something the council could do!! The council buildings are heated beyond need. Turn down the thermostat. The pot holes in the town and along the pavements leading to the town need serious attention and the dog mess is a disgrace.

How much wss the new mayors' car? Perhaps he should follow the new Poe's example and take public transport or , I believe, a Ford Escort for ceremonial occasions.
