Making the Wallingford Park playfield into a sports field for Lincoln is not only exclusionary but deprives the community of play, sport and green space. I support a designated sports field for Lincoln on the Lincoln site with a lower level parking lot.

City government and its departments need to live up to previous agreements. While I support playfields, this one gives me pause when it will eliminate the nature of this neighborhood park and play area. Installing a full-size, lit football field is not in line with the purpose this park was created in the first place.

The Seattle School District knew that the Lincoln site was too small for a high school. They said so in their literature. They said so again when Ballard High School was looking for an interim site. The District should have moved Hamilton Middle School to Lincoln like they promised. Now, here we are with a high school on the site, and the District is looking to commandeer our community park.

The change would be from a neighborhood park enjoyed by people 3-96 (I know many 90 year olds that love it) to a school field from 8am to 10pm. That's called inaccessible to the neighborhood.

This park is a wonderful place for kids to run & play, is used by adults for activities and as a public park, it should not be taken over by the schools.

This park is essential open space for all of Wallingford, young and old. I understand the issue of needing football space, but there are other places to look.

As far as I understand it, there are other options for a playfield. The teachers need to have a parking lot that maybe they can figure something underneath a playfield in the spot where the current parking lot is. High school students need a place to play sports, but taking away a green space for the community who spent their whole lives in the area as opposed to the high school students who might spend two or three years playing a sport there, is really unfair to the community. I totally support education, sports and kids, but I don’t support this proposal.
