Save Wallingford Playfield- NO TURF!

I'm primarily concerned about retaining mature trees, of which the park has many. Any proposal that would include tree removal should not be considered.

Plant clover! Plant some sort of cover crop! Astroturf has been proven to cause increased rates of cancer for those interacting with it on a frequent basis, much like the children and groundskeeper. Keep our parks healthy and keep our community healthy!

This park is incredibly valuable to many of the students in this area, keeping it from being altered like this is so important

Absolutely no turf in our playfield. Trees & grass only! Clean up the park!

I live in the neighborhood and visit the park almost everyday (often at night) - would be a shame to lose a natural space with no artificial lights. I think a half field could be okay but absolutely do not support a full field.

PLEASE SAVE THIS GEM OF A PARK! IT IS A NEIGHBORHOOD TREASURE!!!! Used by so many families, all ages. Artificial turf IS SO HARMFUL TO OUR ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH!!

Remove part of the parking lot at Lincoln High School for some of the field space needed for Lincoln High School and continue to use the 50th and Aurora site for larger practice space.

This park has been super important to the community. Please don't put an athletic field there! I say this as a former student athlete at Lincoln, so I understand the need for a sports field solution for Lincoln High School. But putting turf in, removing trees, and disrupting community use of the park is not the way to do it.

Please preserve the park as is. It has been our go-to playground when our kids were little, and it should remain the same for future generations. We need parks with trees and natural grass more so than ever. Please do not replace this park's green space with AstroTurf.

We don't need a schools taking over our green spaces. They can build their own gym or go elsewhere. The city can clean up the park, as they're supposed to. Kids can go elsewhere.

Don't take away a natural park and open space that is already being used. Convert a parking lot to install a sports field instead. Plus, artifical turf is dead above and below, hot, not actively cooling through photosynthesis etc.

Why should we give up a public good to be polluted by a broke and incompetent organization?

This is the wrong location. Taking away parks and open space is not the answer. Look at another site. I am also vehemently opposed to artificial turf.

The park has facilitated my personal physical and mental health beyond measure over the 2 1/2 decades I have lived here. My grand children have grown up playing on the playground and always love returning (weekly). Please find an alternative spot for the school’s extra needs.

Please stop paving over our parks!

Non-turf open park space that serves everyone is important for the community

The SPS proposal does not serve the needs of the community. Typically, the times when schools use athletic fields (school hours and after school hours) are same times when the general public wants to use park space. So when does the general public get to use it? The answer likely is before school and at night—except when it might conflict with high school sports games. This is going to result in a big loss for the community if SPS succeeds in this proposal.

Turf is a terrible product that ultimately leaches into the soil and waterway. This is a terrible waste of a park that is valued as more than a simple “playfield”. The community deserve a park that serves all residents, and not simply a glorified playground with artificial and toxic plastic turf.

Keep the parks with trees! Not artificial chemical imitation grass, made in China, shipped from overseas -which will eventually end up in a landfill, but not before breaking down into micro plastic pollution that are kids are going to play on. This city has a war on trees, plants and grass. SPS and developers think this is their park to do with what they want - DON"T LET THEM TAKE THE PARK!

A. No plastic in our parks -- we need REAL greenspace. B. This park is a gem, and well-used. C. Let's not spread bright lighting all over the city -- keep it to specific areas, like Woodland Park.
