Save Wallingford Playfield- NO TURF!

A green play space for the community that has no other space, or community center.

Astroturf is horrible! And everyone brings their kids and dogs there! Plus parking around those blocks is already bad for the homeowners there.

Turf is bad for the environment! and humans! Includes PFAS

I love our park. Please don’t take it away.

No football field! This park is a neighborhood and it would make my family so upset to see it turned into this.

Please do not remove a wonderful public park from our community.

When SPS remodeled Lincoln High School, why didn’t they include a playfield in the initial site plan? The community should not have to pay for SPS’s poor planning.

This was my favorite park when I was a kid and I still go there for picnics with friends and to throw the frisbee around. It’s always been a great spot to hang out with other folks in the community and it would be a huge shame to lose it. It feels like there are less and less public spaces to spend time and I don’t think we should be fencing it off.

As an employee of the Seattle Park Department in grounds maintenance for 25 years, I beg you: Please, please! No plastic grass!

Many families rely on this park and playground for play and activities with their children, mine included. Dropping in a giant turf field would disrupt the community, not enrich or benefit the majority. Keep the space natural grass and multiuse.

As a neighbor who visits this park 3-4x a week with my active toddler, I vehemently oppose this plan. The school takeover will remove the only safe green space we have within walking distance to let my toddler run like the wind. Restore the often vacant school parking lot to its former role as a field, resurface the high schools giant front yard, convert the middle school basketball courts to multipurpose, buy one of the many vacant lots on 45th- but whatever you do, leave community green space to the community.

We need public parks more than an anytime in our history. We are expanding housing by putting people in narrow boxes and micro units and people need a park to go and do whatever they want whether it's throw a frisbee, play with their children, lay and read a book. Do not take this park we don't have that many in wallingford!

This is not an environmentally sound decision. Synthetic turf needs replaced and has lots of waste. We need the green stormwater interception that grass and trees provide. Plastic grass does not cool down in the heat. Let's stop putting this stuff everywhere. It's a waste if well meaning $

Introducing a synthetic turf football field will compromise the value, amenities, and resources of the current park/playfield. Please don’t do this to the families and neighbors that rely so much on this precious community gem.

I love this park, please leave it alone for the neighborhood to enjoy!

Please keep Wallingford Playfield as it has been for years. It brings me joy regularly. The location is great to visit on days off and to visit while taking a short break on busy days.

This is the only public park within walking distance of my home that is appropriate for toddlers (Gasworks is only for bigger kids). Keep it public!

We enjoy this park throughout the year, meeting other members of the community, making new friends, getting exercise and fresh air. We also watch the 4th of July fireworks from here each year, and have for nearly 20 years. It would be devastating to lose this beautiful resource.

Get rid of a parking lot instead!
