Save Wallingford Playfield- NO TURF!

Please don't take away and put turf at Wallingford Playfield.

It seems that renovation of this park will not suffice the needs of the two schools & will only be a major loss to the neighborhood. Seattle Public Schools should find an alternate solution rather than monopolize a public space.

Wallingford Park is an important community resource for everyone who lives here. De-greening and converting it into a single-use field for Lincoln high school is misuse of public space. There are more suitable alternatives (starting with the high school's own parking lot).

We need this place in our neighborhood for all people!

So where are they planning on having all the people park for this?? There already is a parking shortage here. Yes cities are dense so bad idea to take away more breathing room. The disregard to the neighbors around this park is so so upsetting.

Let’s destroy some local green space so we can increase teen head trauma…

This is our neighborhood recreational park, a place where families and friends gather. It is central to our community and shouldn’t be taken away.

I visit this park every day and would be absolutely devastated at its loss. It is a vital green oasis amidst urban sprawl.

I totally oppose losing our beloved park to the high school I suggested at the meeting the districe consider Gasworks and was amazed he said it wasn't even considered. I've send the district two protest emails and the last one I suggested another location, the gravel parking lots behind Woodland Park near the zoo. They're mostly unused, flat, and walkable from Lincold. I'd love to help with the protest.

I have zero need for an artificial turf field. I like my park the way it currently is.

This idea borders on criminal. Seattle schools have a lot of things to fix without taking on destroying a community resource, ie, lessening the quality of air we breathe, one of the many bad things.

We need neighborhood systems that support new parents with young children and green spaces that are open to all.

Save the current play field

This is a public park that should be maintained for the enjoyment of all community members, we should not be replacing natural greenery with artificial turf that is bad for the environment

Removing neighborhood green space to install artificial limited-use space is the wrong move. Wallingford has no Community Center - like other neighborhoods - this is our gathering space.

I want the community’s free space to remain free. I don’t want it to be turned into a sports field. Find other solutions for the school if needed, but leave parks alone.

This is one of the best community parks. As someone who has lived in different areas of Wallingford over the past few years, Wallingford playfield has always felt like a safe place to run around or just sit and beat the heat while watching dogs walk by or pee wee soccer. This is one of the most utilized green spaces.

We need to keep the very few green spaces we have in this city.
