We don’t need another monstrous building that will clog our neighborhood with more traffic. Save this beautiful building!

Villa Rosa Bonheur is an architectural gem, still retaining the character of old Riverdale. It should have landmark designation. The new owners want to change the original, approved plans for interior renovation to a new 7 story building. This points to their dishonesty. We can’t believe anything they are saying. In addition, the lot has a small footprint. Parking and traffic would affect the neighborhood as well as the nearby Spuyten Duyvil station .

It’s hard enough to find parking and now they want to have more residents in the area? Oh god

This picturesque, beautifully crafted building must be saved to maintain the history of Riverdale and what makes it unique.

Historically significant building with unique architectural design and location - house and site should be protected, preserved, and renovated, not destroyed by greedy developer

I am ashamed of the fact that one of the most iconic and unique houses of Riverdale is beeing left to the mercy of a real estate development project focused on an easy money scheme. We, the residents of the neighboring area know that the streets over there are not ready to accomodate the potential number of cars and traffic associated with such a development project.

This is an important landmark building in Spuyten Dyvil and should be honored, not destroyed for personal profit. There must be some fair negotiating possible.

Not only did this building commemorate an artist in an aesthically pleasing form, but its last inhabitants, Robert and Kate Rabinowitz, were artists themselves. I enjoyed visiting and seeing their papier-maché houseguest on the couch, and viewing their latest pieces, as much as I reveled in hearing about stories of them entertaining artists and authors like Philip Roth and Norman Mailer in their boho Village garden apartment. Now that Robert's gone, their home is a link to many eras of NYC rich artistic past. The city should honor that by bestowing landmark status upon it and ceasing construction at once.

Why don't people care about the history and the fabric of New York? It seems like there is an effort to erase the past or at the very least ignore it. Whoever owns this space must not be mindful of New York and it's important American history.

The city must help us preserve our history and the buildings that encompass it. Too often these days we are allowing overbuilding and profits decide for us and future generations won’t understand why will let this happen.

For over seven years I was fortunate enough to have lived in two different apartments in Villa Rosa Bonheur (and before that to have lived for ten years in its sister building Villa Charlotte Bronte). Destroying beauty is always a sacrilege. I suggest making the developer's life miserable in as many ways as possible.

I lived in and loved this building for only a few years but it saddens me deeply to think that it might be replaced by a cold monstrosity.
