This is not only one of the true architectural gems of the Bronx, along with the Villa Bronte and Villa Victoria, all creations of John Jay McKelvey, and his answer to the rapid urbanization of playing out inNew York City 100 years ago. Beyond the quirky charm and beauty of this structure, there is so much history that makes such a building worthy of being considered for landmark status: the unique layouts of the apartments, the co-operative vision, the effort at harmonizing with the landscape, and the architect himself (founder of the Harvard Law Review), are just some of the the features that make this building so compelling and worthy of consideration.

This is truly a shame. BTW, garbage and vermon are now an issue. I hope that the developers recognize their error and revise the development plans ASAP.

Another building is not the best idea for such a small area. Please restore this beautiful house.

Keep the safety of the community a priority. Narrow streets = poor access for Emergency Vehicles. Lack of sidewalks
Not to forget all the problems they have already caused to our neighborhood environment

Stop this assault on a neighborhood treasure that adds to the beauty of Riverdale and our community. The destruction of Villa Rosa Bonheur is an assault on the neighborhood! The attempt by the property owner/developer is clearly motivated by pure greed who are using deception and lies to push their agenda through to build a large unit building. In the process, they are potentially exposing people to materials like asbestos and creating an unsafe environment by allowing the existing structure to rot in the bad weather. Please give Villa Rosa Bonheur landmark status. Please enforce a mandate to the developer to re-store this property to it's original state. We don't need another large unit building on Palisade Ave!

I have lived near this building for over 20 years. It is one of the focal points of Palisade Ave. It would be a sin to see this building destroyed

Please don’t build a building there. It will ruin the area. Such a beautiful historic house and it’s such a shame to see it go.
