As a person with disabilities I am really saddened to see that the wellness center is going to close. The center is a vital part of the community and provides much needed services for local residents. The center needs to stay open at all costs.

I know there are a lot of people with disabilities that utilize this facility and unfortunately there does not seem to be a viable alternative. Please reconsider closing this valuable community resource.

I am a caretaker of a person who utilizes your pool. My client has CP and the only way she can engage in pain-free physical activity is when she visits the salt water, heated, and handicap accessible pool. While there are other pools in North Carolina that my client can go to, they are either too far away, not handicap accessible, or do not have heating capability. If my client is unable to exercise, her quality of life will drastically diminish. While I am performing range of motion exercises on her every day in order to preserve mobility, I can’t help but notice that her mobility has diminished. Being able to exercise in this facility is crucial to her well-being and quality of life. Closing this facility is a MISTAKE and its closure directly harms individuals such as my client.

I am a veteran and a former deputy, five years ago my life was destroyed by injuries . I was able to get better and stronger by training at this facility. I was able to workout with very nice people and not sit at home and become a hermit like the VA wants me to do. The opportunity for me to heal my self and to grow stronger physically kept me from giving up and ending my life. I suspect this decision from Vidant is designed to be punitive in nature just like most of the governments response with the lock downs. This is cold hearted and evil, because the closure of this facility is going to hurt alot of people like me, that society does not care about.

As a caregiver the therapy pool was a necessity for my family member. Without the quality of service provided by the facility trainer I could not have adequately cared for my family member. I felt safe accepting help from this trainer. I am not guaranteed that level of safety and confidence at another facility. I am also not guaranteed the time needed to travel to another facility.

As a person with a disability who is confined to a power wheelchair- the therapy pool is my only source of pain free mobility...it is also an affordable out-of-pocket year round wellness expense as my insurance will only cover 12 consecutive visits a year. I had a fantastic trainer willing to help my caregiver get me in the pool- That trainer also got in the pool when it was necessary. I felt safe with this trainer- I rarely see that level of professionalism. I am not guaranteed this level of help at another facility. Mileage would be a profound hardship as well.

Please figure out a way to better manage finances and how to keep Vidant Wellness Center open. This was a great place to exercise and an even better place to work. I have not been with VWC very long but, without a doubt, I could see the impact this place had on the community and I am very thankful to have been a part of it.

It is time to get creative and find a way to keep the Wellness Center open. If your previous model for running it did not work- try a NEW one. The Vidant Wellness Center is a critical resource for Greenville and all of Pitt County.

The Viquest Wellness Center is by far the best gym I have ever been to – friendliest and most helpful staff, cleanest facility and offers the most services for the community. It is crucial for the health and well being of the citizens in the Greenville area. Please do not shut it down.

This gym is needed and essential to our community. The people that worked there were awesome. This is such a disappointment.

We have had a family membership at ViQuest/Vidant do all 14 years that we have lived in Greenville and have enjoyed the pool, personal training, child classes, the Performance Center, and the wonderful Kid Zone. It is the only gym on the hospital side of Pitt County, is a wonderful community, and is a lifeline for so many, particularly seniors. Vidant must be in some kind of financial hurt that predates covid to close the Wellness Center without reaching out to members to survey if we might consider paying more for membership, paying for classes or childcare, or accepting reduced gym hours. I hope and pray that it can reopen.
